“P20 high hard steel” is a type of tool steel that is commonly used in the manufacturing industry, particularly in the fabrication of molds and dies for plastic injection molding and die casting.Because of these properties, P-20 HI HARD may be polished to the exceptionally high finish required for plastic molding.

To generate a homogeneous product with remarkable cleanliness, special melting and refining techniques are used. To assure structural consistency and defect-free performance, the material is subjected to rigorous tool steel testing. P-20 HI HARD is pre-hardened to 352/461 BHN when ordered. P-20 HI HARD’s balanced alloy composition ensures uniform cross-sectional hardness.

Heat Treatment of P20 Steel material:

Hardening: Critical Temperature to 763ºC

Quenching: Pressurized the gas and interrupted oil to 66-51ºC.

Preheating of P20 metal: Heat at a rate not exceeding 222ºC per hour to 621-677ºC and made to equalize.

Tempering: P20 tool steels are tempered at 482-593°C for a hardness of 37 to 28HRC

For oil, quench until it becomes black, at about 482°C, then cool it down in still air to 66-51°C.

P20 1.2738 grade also called high hardness is an extensive form of P20 steel.

Applications of P20 Steel:

Die holders, zinc die casting dies, backers, bolsters, and injection moulds are examples of typical applications. Because of its high tensile strength, P20 tool steel is extremely versatile.

Also suitable for other applications inclusive of rails, shafts and wear strips. P20 steel are used for low temperature programs that include injection molds and die casting dies.
